Ancient Journey Through Time

It's been two years since Kitaro graced the shores of Singapore with his brand of new age music. The man with the wild mane was back in town for a 2-night performance aboard the cruise liner Superstar Virgo, his first aboard a ship. At a press conference held at the Goodwood Park Hotel, Singapore, he talked about the upcoming release of his new album and revealed his inspiration.

Simply titled "Ancient", the album contains music from Kitaro's latest project - a 5-part documentary by NHK, the national TV station in Japan. The documentary explores the 4 major ancient civilizations of the world, moving from Mesopotamia to China, from the Indus Civilization to Modern Civilization. Kitaro composed all the music. Slated for release in early July, "Ancient" coincides with the broadcast of the first part of this documentary.

Simple things inspire this humble musician. The pyramids of Egypt inspired him to compose "Great Pyramid" and "Mysterious Triangle" (2 tracks from the new album). What is amazing is that he wrote the music without having seen the visuals for the documentary. Instead, he relied on the script and his own imagination. "It's good for me as all my imagination goes into the music. Sometimes you should follow the visual but this time, it is all from my mind," he says.

Kitaro also commented that he is happy his music can travel back 5000 years to an age that he terms "a more high-tech culture, more than today". He has completed the scoring of 4 of the 5 musical installments for the documentary. The 5th installment is still a work-in-progress. He revealed that even on board the Virgo, he was composing in his cabin. The sequel album to "Ancient", to be titled "Ancient Journey", will be released sometime in November.

When he's not composing or playing his Fender Stratocastor, Kitaro keeps busy with projects that protect the environment. True to his love for nature, he is a council member for the Globe Legislators Organisation, who's aim is to strive for a balanced environment. He explains: "I'm going to try to save the environment. So I'm working with music but also working with this too."

From Singapore, Kitaro goes on to Hong Kong to perform aboard the Star Leo, before ending his mini-tour in Nagano, Japan.

Einfach betitelt "uralt", enthält das Album Musik von Kitaros spätestem Projekt - ein 5-teils Dokumentarbericht von NHK, der nationalen TV-Station in Japan. Der Dokumentarbericht erforscht die 4 größeren uralten Zivilisationen der Welt, sich von Mesopotamia nach China von der Indus-Zivilisation zu Moderner Zivilisation bewegend. Kitaro komponierte alle Musik. Für Befreiung in dem frühen Juli vorgeschlagen, "uralt" zusammenfällt mit der Sendung des ersten Teiles dieses Dokumentarberichtes.
Einfache Dinge inspirieren diesen bescheidenen Musiker. Die Pyramiden von Ägypten inspirierten ihm, "Bedeutende Pyramide" und "Rätselhaftes Dreieck" zu komponieren (2 Spuren von dem neuen Album). Was erstaunlich ist, ist, daß er die Musik schrieb, ohne die visuals für den Dokumentarbericht gesehen zu haben. Statt dessen verließ er sich auf die Schrift und seine eigene Vorstellung. "Es ist gut für mich, wie jede meine Vorstellung in die Musik geht. Manchmal sollten Sie dem visuellen folgen aber diese Zeit ist es alles von meinem Geist", er sagt.
Kitaro kommentierte auch daß er glücklich ist, daß seine Musik sich Rücken 5000 Jahre zu einem Alter fortbewegen kann, das er nennt, "ein mehr high-tech-Kultur, mehr als heute". Er hat das Punkte Machen von 4 der 5 musikalischen Aufstellungen für den Dokumentarbericht abgeschlossen. Die 5. Aufstellung ist noch ein Work-infortschritt. Er teilte mit, daß er sogar an Bord des Virgo in seiner Kabine bildete. Das Folgenalbum zu "uralt", um "Uralte Fahrt" betitelt zu werden, wird irgendwann im November entlassen werden.
Wenn er nicht bildet oder seinen Fender Stratocastor spielend, bleibt Kitaro mit Projekten beschäftigt, die die Umgebung schützen. Seiner Liebe für Natur treu, ist er ein Ratmitglied für die Globus-Gesetzgeber-Organisation, wer das Ziel ist soll eine ausgeglichene Umgebung anstreben. Er erklärt: "Ich werde versuchen, die Umgebung zu sparen. So arbeite ich mit Musik aber arbeite auch auch damit. " Aus Singapur, geht Kitaro zu Hongkong weiter an Bord des Star Leos zu funktionieren, bevor man seine Minireise in Nagano, Japan, beendet.
