AMG EXPERT REVIEW: This two-disc set features many of the quirky but right soundtrack songs used by director Stone in his many films. Highlights are numerous as they are diverse, including Smokey Robinson and the Miracles' "Tracks of My Tears" and Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire" to Nine Inch Nails ("Burn") and Ennio Morricone's "U-Turn" theme, and beyond. Stone's taste is often period-driven to fit the film, but is just as wide-ranging, making room for tastes as diverse as Juice Newton ("Queen of Hearts"), Jefferson Airplane ("White Rabbit"), Peggy Lee ("It's a Good Day"), the Doors ("The End"), the Specials ("Ghost Town"), Peter Gabriel ("Taboo"), Stewart Copeland ("'Wall Street' End Theme"), Gloria Lynne ("Speaking of Happiness") and John Williams ("Born on the 4th of July" and the "Theme from JFK") to all musically and spiritually coexist as his film's many different musical landscapes. Spread over the set are interview segments with Stone discussing both his musical choices and the scoring of his many successful films as well. A very nice and quirky little package, just like the man himself. — Cub Koda
