Audio Acoustical Collage,
"With the production of Collage IVand V, as in previous volumes of Collage, I have tried to interweave specific expressions of musical art in a unique way to produce an overall cumulative effect an the listener. For some, this effect may be to soothe, to relax, or to ease the burdens of day-to-day life of great tension and pressure. For others it may provide a time of retreat and regeneration. In previous editions I tried to maintain the composers work. In Collage IVand V, I have taken some liberry and re-arranged the actual composition to highten the effect an the listener. Collage may invoke any number of powerful emotions as it invokks a musical environment which transports you across many centuries of creative genius. Whatever Collage does for you, I have no doubt that you will look forward to reliving the experience again and again." MICHEL BAYAN As the son of a classical musician, Michel Bayan was exposed to a wide variety of musical expression throughout his formative years. As time passed, he developed a powerful interest in the profound emotional effect different types of music had an listeners. Individual musical compositions, he discovered, almost always brought forth the Same kinds of feelings and responses - even from widely different audiences. He also found that specific combinations of notes within compositions, chords and tone colors, even the use of certain instruments to perform compositions - all these elements contributed in measurable ways to the reactions listeners had to musical performances. These insights led to experiments with the creation of musical collages; i.e., carefully orchestrated groups of musical compositions designed to achieve a Singular powerful emotional effect an an audience. Eventually, Michel Bayan created Collage, a new form of expression which brings centuries of musical genius to bear, and which reaches deep into the emotional depths of virtually any listener to achieve its powerful and memorable effect.

USING COLLAGE The marvelous world of harmonious relaxation awaits you. The simple procedure outlined here will lead you to a stress-free new lifestyle. Collage creates acoustical environments which neutralize the effects of stress and anxiety. The effects are achieved through the psycho-acoustical properties of music alone -not subliminal suggestions or instruction. Through twenty years of research, Psycho-Acoustical Laboratories has found that the properties of music are so powerful that virtually no other sounds are necessary to produce remarkable changes in stress and anxiety levels. WHAT IS
"PSYCHO-ACOUSTICS"? SHAPE YOUR ACOUSTICAL ENVIRONMENT Collage helps you
create your own acoustical environment in order to counterbalance the effects of
noise pollution. Unlike popular "white noise" machines which generate a simple
masking sound, Collage tapes and compact discs provide a private world of sound
which actually stimulates a state of relaxation and well-being.
AMG EXPERT REVIEW: Michel Bayan is a sound researcher who studies the effects of sounds and music on the human body; he has created a series of Collage music albums for the purpose of relaxation; be prepared: the albums are full musical experiences, not light spiritual fair. Collage IV contains an interesting mix of selections from electronic wizards Jarre, Kitaro, and Vangelis, Spanish masters, and Vivaldi. The compilation and most arrangements are by Michel Bayan, with Mark Wood pitching in on the masterful recreations of the electronic music. Jarre's "Equinox Part II," the musical epitome of major mind angst (yet strangely beautiful) begins the experience; those who are stressed will probably relate. After some nature sounds, the wondrous fantasy world of Kitaro's "Wind God" unfolds—quite a treat—followed by Kitaro's "Mirage." The delicate "La Petit Fille de la Mar" by Vangelis is charming, a music box waltz beneath soothing ocean waves. Another delicate dance piece by Enrique Granados is cast in the Vangelis style—charming with its distant chorus—and his "L'Oriental" dance for solo guitar (Oren Fader) is mouthwatering. This segues to two other breathtaking pieces for solo guitar: Fernando Sor's "Study in e minor" and the familiar "Recuerdoes de la Alhambra" by Francisco Tarrega. The album ends with the infinitely bouncy "Concerto in D major" by Vivaldi, with harpsichord and live chamber orchestra. Nature sounds—surf, brook, thunder, sailboat—form bridges between the pieces. A delightful experience that ends with spring birdsongs. — Carol Wright |
